Welcome to Taxo ("we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website (taxo.app), web dashboard, and WhatsApp-based bookkeeping services (collectively, the "Services") designed to assist UK freelancers and small businesses with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance. By using our Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into contracts to use our Services. You confirm that any information you provide, including financial data for MTD compliance, is accurate and complete.

3. Use of Services

Taxo provides a platform to manage bookkeeping and submit tax data to HMRC via APIs. You agree to:

• Use the Services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with UK tax laws.
• Provide accurate financial data (e.g., income, expenses, receipts) via WhatsApp or our web dashboard.
• Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the Services.

4. Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Ensuring the accuracy of data submitted to HMRC through our Services.
• Complying with all applicable tax obligations, as Taxo does not provide tax advice.
• Backing up your financial data, as we are not responsible for data loss due to technical issues.

5. Fees and Payment

Taxo offers free and paid plans. Paid plans (e.g., for MTD submissions or AI insights) are subject to the pricing listed on our website. You agree to pay all applicable fees, and we may suspend your account for non-payment.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, software, and technology in the Services are owned by Taxo or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-transferable license to use the Services for personal or business purposes, subject to these Terms.

7. Data Privacy

We handle your personal and financial data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. By using our Services, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described therein.

8. Third-Party Services

Our Services integrate with third parties, such as WhatsApp and HMRC APIs. You agree to comply with their terms and acknowledge that we are not responsible for their performance or availability.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Taxo is not liable for:

• Errors in data you submit to HMRC via our Services.
• Losses due to service interruptions, data breaches, or technical failures.
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if you violate these Terms or for any other reason, with or without notice. You may stop using the Services at any time, but fees for paid plans are non-refunded.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, though we operate from Portugal and comply with EU regulations where applicable.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our Services or legal requirements. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
